Hello, I own a 2005 model Rancilio Silvia with the older style boilers where there seems to be some consideration from factory to allow for a probe placement.
I've attached a picture for reference, the depth of the hole is 1.2" x 0.25 diameter. The bottom of the hole is conically shaped after the drill tip. There also seems to be a tapped screw hole next to it which seems to be there to secure the potential RTD probe.

I couldn't find anything online in regards to this location being used by anyone for temperature sensing. It seems to make sense to use this location as it is deep into the boiler and on the opposite end of the water feed.

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Your circled holes are at the edge of the boiler, which is not recommended. If you do want to use screw RTD sensor, it is recommended to install it at the place of steam thermostat. You need to remove your steam thermostat and you will see the thermowell for sensor mounting there. For details, see

Another option is you can use standard RTDstat sensor. It is compatible with your model and also newer models.

Browsing through the available pid kits, i was wondering why Model: KIT-RSPb unit display is not available in the amber color to match the power light and switch lights? I have ordered gauge with amber backlight from your site before
(SYL-1813A), is it possible to get a KIT-RSPb in amber color display?

Thanks

Kkane

Amber color is not available for coffee kit controllers at this moment. If you like to order a large quantity, Auber may customize it for you. For details, please contact Auber's customer support.

Thanks for clarifying on the Amber color availability.

I do have another question in regards to the sensor options.

On the site there are two RTD sensor options, screw type and standard, in the body of the paragraph it states that the screw type RTD sensor delivers better performance on the older models (00-06). The paragraph does not get into comparisons between the two, could you elaborate on the performance benefit between the two sensors and the performance improvement on the older models with the RTD screw type?

Thanks,

Kkane

Considering the reading, screw RTD sensor has faster response than RTDstat. Screw sensor needs to be installed on the mounting hole on the top of the boiler, so the sensor will read the temperature inside of the top of the boiler (but it still cannot reach the inside water directly). For standard RTDstat sensor, it needs to be mounted on the top of boiler, and it will read the top surface temperature.

Considering the installation and future-proof, RTDstat is recommended. It is easy to install and it is compatible with both old and new boilers. If you need to replace your boiler in the future, RTDstat will also works. Screw RTD sensor is only compatible with 00-06 made Silvia. It is fragile to be installed (no strain-relief on the cable) and you need to install it carefully.
