I have the KIT-RSRTDN (EU settings) that I installed on my Silvia back in 2008, and it's been working daily ever since without any issues. Recently, however, I noticed some strange behavior. When I turn the machine on with the main switch, the controller display remains dark (the light in the main switch goes on). Only after a while (usually about 5-10 minutes) the display on the controller turns on and the temperature shows up. After that it works as usual. Sometimes (rarely) it stays off, then flicking the brew switch on and off once or twice helps to get things going. I haven't made proper scientific observations, but this delay seems to be worse on cold mornings. I don't think, however, that it's purely temperature related - when I turn the warm machine off, and then turn it on after a minute or so, there is still this delay, only maybe shorter. I checked the wiring inside, but nothing seems obviously wrong. The machine is still usable, but I'm concerned that it might be a signal of an oncoming more serious failure.

May I know the room/ambient temperature when you turn on the espresso machine? It may take a while to warm itself up for some old models, especially in cold season. Do you have similar problems in last winter?

It is probably something wrong inside of your controller, since it is already 8-year old controller. You may contact Auber support for repair or replacement service.

No, that's the first year it's been doing that. The temperature is about 20 Celsius, on some mornings maybe 18 - nothing extreme. Also, the machine really starts heating up only after the controller "wakes up" (the large light comes on together with the display).
I'll try to checks voltages inside the machine with a multimeter. The light in the mains switch seems dimmer than the lights in other switches.
As it works fine once it wakes up, I'll keep using it as it is, once it definitely dies I'll contact you for a replacement. It's just a very curious symptom.

If you get the voltage across terminal 1 & 2, but the controller's display is still off, then something wrong inside the controller.

Yes, 20C should be no problem for this controller. Actually when you turn on the main switch/power switch on the espresso machine, the PID controller should be powered on immediately.

For reference, I have a Silvia controller that's about 10 years old and have been experiencing this issue for the last month or two. It started with a few minutes delay but it now takes up to a few hours before the temp display turns on and the machine heats up. I could not identify a source for the problem, external temperature or else. I now start the machine before I go to bed so it is ready in the morning. I will be contacting support.

That usually indicates a failure in the power module of the controller. It's probably time to replace it. Yes, please contact customer support.
