SYL-2362 How to set controller output referenced in note 10

Hello there,

I'm reading through the manual for the SYL-2362 and getting a little lost on Note 10. Where do I set the controller output percentage? I'm looking at replacing the controller on a Pit Boss 700 Pellet Grill. Am thinking I can use J2 to control the Auger, J1 for the Igniter rod and have the Fan on constant.

The PB 700 controller has a P setting, defaulted to On 18secs, Off 115secs to prevent overfilling the fire pot and snuffing out the fire. I figure I can somewhat replicate that with the Cycle Rate and Controller Output controls if I can figure out where to set the Controller Output.

Of course I will defer to your expertise if I'm going down the wrong path here. The PB700 is just like all the other Pellet Grills, Auger, Fan, Igniter rod are activated by the controller. With the manufacturer controller the temps swing +/- 70F. Hoping to get a little tighter control. Pork butt is one thing and is very forgiving on temps, Jerky, fish, not so much.

Thank you in advance!

Note 10. Cycle rate (ot): It is the time period (in seconds) that controller uses
to calculate its output. e.g. If ot=2, and controller output is set to 10%, the
heater will be on 0.2 se co n d and off 1.8 second s for every 2 seconds.

Here's the way I think it could be wired. Using J1 low temp alarm to turn on the Igniter and J2 to control the Auger. Would this work? If so and someone can help me with the first question I think I'd be set.

Here is an example wiring for SYL-2372 PID for pellet smoker. You can check it as reference.

SYL-2372 has different pin assignment as SYL-2362. Pin 6&7 is its main output. Pin 13&14 is its low temperature alarm output. For your SYL-2362, you can use its main J2 output to drive auger motor. Set J1 as low temperature alarm and use it to drive ignitor.

You cannot set output percentage in SYL-2362 unless you want to use this PID under manual mode. In manual mode, you are manually adjusting the output percentage, not controlled by the PID.

Output cycle time OT is recommended to be 20s if you don't use SSR relay.

Thank you so much KKane. Appreciate that verification on the output control!

I'll follow this logic to set it up.
