I have a controller for my HERMS that uses an Auber MGR-1D 4840 SSR. It is apparently a discontinued item. Would the SRDA40 40S AC SSR be the right replacement?

Yes, SRDA40 is the correct replacement part. It is rated as 40A, DC-trigger-AC SSR.
