Title: plug and play PID compatibility

HI, I was wondering if I could use this plug and play PID

for a 5500W 240v heating element?
Or which one would you recommend?

No. WS-2000F is rated up to 240V/4800W. 5500W element is over its limit.

For water application like brewing, you can check CUBE controller or BIAB control panel:

ok, I decided to use a lower wattage heating element (4500 W) so this PDI should work.
I am using it for a steam barrel. Im going to use the 220V 20amp (model4) version.
I only need it to go up to a certain temp. and stay there for a certain amount of time, so the timer version (swa 2451) is the one that I need think.
I guess all I need is the thermocouple sensor but I want the tri clamp adaptor. Does that come with it?
Also, how many adapters will I need(C20, C19)?

Model 4 is rated as 20A. Your 4500W element is too close to its limit.

For water application, EZboil (DSPR120) is more recommended. In mashing mode, it will heat to up a certain temperature, then maintain for a certain amount of time. Then you can choose to turn off heater.

RTD sensor is more recommended for water application due to its accuracy. Currently Auber only offers tri-clamp sensor in PT100 RTD sensor.

WS-2000FB comes with a RTD sensor. WS-2000F doesn't.

Again, CUBE controller or BB002 is recommended for your case.

ah man, I just ordered the wrong heating element! Why does it say up to 4800 w if it's not true?
The units you are recommending are all tabletop versions with pump setting which I don't need.
I really just need a wall mounted PID, within my price range.
I guess I can build my own

Because electrical components need some margin of safety. For example, if your load is 15A, you cannot use 15A circuit breaker to protect it. You need to use 20A or so circuit breaker. So does SSR relay or other components.
